Science has confirmed meditation is good for us. Yet, we’re busy and don’t have the time to disappear for a month on quiet retreat or spend four hours a day in lotus. We want to feel good and then we want to go on about our day. Here’s three of the top apps for meditation that make it easy to do and enjoyable to stick with.
Headspace (Free)
Headspace is a great beginners meditation app. Free to start, Headspace introduces you to mediation with 10 days of 10-minute sessions. The app includes a personal progress page, rewards for regular use, and reminders for staying on track. The app’s intro course is free forever but there are lots of focused topic mediations (such as happiness, mental health, stress relief, and appreciation) with the $12.99-a-month membership.
Omvana (Free)
Omvana has a large and diverse collection of meditations for every area of life. It features a variety of mediation experts with sessions that range between 3 and 60 minutes. Omvana connects with HealthKit to suggest the best moments to meditate based on your stress levels and state of mind.
Buddhify ($4.99)
Buddhify asks what you’re doing and provides one of 80 guided meditations specific to your day. The app prompts with a colorful wheel of various activities and moods such as Traveling, Feeling Stressed, Can’t Sleep, and Walking in City. Each activity has multiple meditation options with times varying from 5–30 minutes. The app also tracks the progress of your mindfulness, concentration, and balance in relation to consistency of meditation practice.
