Shocking, no? Well, not really. Over the past few years, headlines have touted studies suggesting that sitting for hours on end can increase the risk of everything from certain types of cancers to physical disabilities to diabetes.
A great way to counter all of these deleterious effects is to get up and do some yoga just when you feel your midday slump setting in. Nicole Lynne Hooley, a New York-based yoga instructor, showed us five poses that you can do right at your desk.
